The Giant Panda Species Survival Plan is an initiative of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association. Zoos, scientists and universities gather information, conduct research, and spread their knowledge of the cause. The GPSSP team includes zoologists, as well as specialists in panda ecology, reproduction, behavior, nutrition, medical problems and genetics.
Chengdu Panda Base
The Chengdu Panda Base is a non-profit Chinese organization that works with giant pandas in their natural habitat. They started in 1987 with six rescued pandas; they have now expanded to 200 acres and are the home of 83 giant pandas, all descendants of the original six. They do research, public education and educational tourism, allowing visitors to directly interact with the pandas.

Pandas International is a non-profit association based in Littleton, Colorado and was founded by Suzanna Braden and Diane Rees in 2000. They conduct public education campaigns and raise funds for giant panda preservation organizations in China.
