Pandas are typically silent, but actually have 11 different calls, 4 of which are only used during mating.Their bleat is typically a friendly, social call. The huff/snort is often associated with apprehension. A honk or squeal indicates distress. As would be expected, a growl or roar indicates aggression or anger. A yip/chirp sound can occur in many situations and at varying intensities and is most likely associated with social situations. Also, giant pandas are the only bears that do not hum.
