Locomotion
Giant Pandas use plantigrade locomotion, meaning that both their heel and toe touch the ground as they walk. They have hairs on the bottom of their paws that provide traction, and also help keep their feet warm when walking in snow and ice. Pandas are good tree climbers and use their short claws to grip onto tree bark as they climb. As opposed to most other bears, giant pandas cannot walk on their hind legs, they can just stand.
